Health Department Initiates Comprehensive Health Programs in Ladakh
Leh, Ladakh, July 16: The Department of Health continues its extensive, ongoing health initiative includes the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), targeting 32 diseases, and the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK), providing adolescent health counselling at Mahabodhi Residential School.
The program integrates the National Mental Health Program and the National Tobacco Control Programme.
Dr. Stanzin Jamyang, District Consultant for the National Tobacco Control Programme, addressed issues related to tobacco use, cancer risks, and harmful chemicals.
RKSK AFHC Counsellor, Stanzin Edzes, emphasized the importance of mental and physical health, discussing common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Counsellor Diskit Angmo provided comprehensive group counseling on menstrual hygiene, sexual abuse, and body image.
Individual counseling sessions were conducted by Dr. Stanzin Jamyang, RBSK Clinical Psychologist Mariyah Samreen, Psychologist Phunchok Diskit, and RKSK AFHC Counsellors Diskit Angmo and Stanzin Edzes.
This initiative underscores the Department of Health’s commitment to community well-being through comprehensive health services and awareness programs.
