Health Department team holds awareness camp on Leprosy at Sarak Marmat

DODA, JULY 04: The Health Department Doda has launched a village hot spot survey after detection of a suspected Leprosy Case in Village Sarak Marmat falling within the Medical Block Assar.


On the first Day of the campaign being conducted under National Leprosy Control Programme (NLCP), a health team from CMO Office hosted a series of awareness programmes on Leprosy at the Village Sarak, Govt Middle Schools Sarak and Labbar.


The team is slated to conduct house to house survey during the next two days.


Sr. Paramedical Supervisor, Surinder Bijayal who was part of the team, urged the participants to know in detail about the precautions to control leprosy and also threw light on NLEP. He said that highly effective treatment is available to cure leprosy. “Early detection and timely treatment and dosage are essential to eradicate leprosy,” he added.


Moreover, along with Leprosy, awareness regarding Malaria was also imparted to the general public by the visiting team.


The team comprised of Dr Javed Parray, Medical Officer Leprosy, Krishan Chand (Sr.PMA), Ram Raj (PMA) and Farooq Ahmed (JHI) from Malaria Unit Doda.
