Health Dept. organises training on cervical screening using VIA
LEH, March 29: A training on visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) for screening of cervical cancer was organised for CHOs & ANMs by the Health Department, Durbuk Block at AB-HWC PHC Tangtse.
Medical Officer, AB-HWC PHC Tangtse, Dr Tenzin Yeshi was the resource person.
Incharge BMO spoke about the importance of cervical cancer screening and how visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) can be used as a cost-effective and reliable screening tool for early detection of cervical cancer.
Dr Tenzin Yeshi gave a detailed presentation on normal anatomy of the cervix followed by the VIA procedure. He also provided a live screening demonstration allowing participants to observe and learn the procedure. During the demonstration, Dr. Yeshi explained the procedure step-by-step, highlighting the key areas to observe and how to interpret the results.
The training session provided an opportunity for the participants to enhance their skills and knowledge in cervical cancer screening in their respective HWC S/C, thereby contributing to the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer.
The women screened were also given awareness regarding cervical cancer and the importance of screening.
At last, the women screened were given gift hampers by the health care workers for their cooperation as a token of gratitude.
