Himachal Governor Shukla, CM Sukhu pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Shastri

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India] October 2 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary on Monday.

Governor Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhu paid floral tribute to the Father of the Nation at his statue at The Ridge Shimla, today.

Governor Shukla reflected on the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. He highlighted Gandhiji’s commitment to truth and non-violence. The Governor praised Gandhiji for his deep-rooted connection to Indian traditions, marked by integrity and simplicity. He stressed how Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of Swadeshi, Swaraj, self-reliance and cleanliness continue to inspire us all.

Chief Minister Sukhu, in his message, emphasized the impact of Gandhiji’s non-violent approach to the freedom struggle. He underlined how Gandhiji’s leadership and dedication to non-violence played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for independence. The Chief Minister called upon the citizens to draw inspiration from Gandhiji’s ideals and incorporate them into their lives.

The Governor and the Chief Minister also visited the photo exhibition based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

Later, the Governor and the Chief Minister also paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at CTO Chowk on his birth anniversary.

“Shastri Ji inspired the country to make it self-reliant by giving the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’. Shastri Ji’s integrity, humility and simplicity will always inspire all the countrymen”, said Shukla.

“When there was a shortage of food in the country, Shastri ji gave the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ and inspired us to move towards self-reliance. He was an embodiment of simplicity who gave the message of duty to the country”, said the Chief Minister.

Patriotic songs and bhajans were also recited on the occasion.

Himachal CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu posted on X.

Several leaders from across the country paid homage to Gandhi ji and Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.
