Home Minister Amit Shah spotlights Modi government’s efforts in transforming Kashmir’s security landscape during Lok Sabha Debate

In a significant address during the No Confidence Motion debate in the Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the transformative policies and unwavering commitment of the Modi government in bringing about a positive change in the situation in Kashmir since 2014.

Shah underscored the government’s focus on eradicating terrorism and fostering engagement with the youth of the region.

Since the beginning of their tenure, the Modi government has made significant strides towards realizing a terrorism-free Kashmir. Amit Shah proudly proclaimed that the processions of terrorists that once plagued the valley have been quelled, with the fallen extremists now laid to rest at the very sites where they were neutralized.

This strategic approach has been instrumental in discouraging the glorification of terrorism and conveying a resolute message of zero tolerance to extremist activities.

Addressing the concerning loss of lives that had marred Kashmir for years, Shah acknowledged the severity of the issue, stating that approximately 40,000 lives were tragically lost. However, he also emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has taken decisive steps to improve the situation.

The consistent and unrelenting efforts of the government have culminated in a substantial reduction in violence and a renewed sense of security for the people of Kashmir.

Shah’s speech further highlighted the government’s commitment to engaging with the youth of the Kashmir Valley directly. He firmly stated that the focus would be on dialogue and cooperation with the young population, rather than relying on intermediaries such as the Hurriyat, Jamiat, or Pakistan.

This approach is seen as a departure from the past and a reflection of the government’s determination to address the aspirations of the local population directly.

The assertions made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha reflect the comprehensive and multifaceted efforts undertaken by the Modi government to transform the security and socio-political landscape of Kashmir.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah attributed the historic decision to reform Kashmir’s status to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah emphasized that the abrogation of Article 370, which he referred to as a mistake made by the Jawaharlal Nehru Government, was successfully carried out by the Parliament on August 5, 2019.

While acknowledging the challenges and losses faced, Shah’s message resounded with optimism, underlining the government’s accomplishments and the strides made towards creating a more peaceful and prosperous Kashmir.
