Home Minister Amit Shah to introduce J&K Reorganisation Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to introduce the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha today for consideration and passage. This amendment seeks to modify the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

The bill, which was unanimously passed by the Lok Sabha on December 12, 2023, proposes a significant change by mandating 33% reservation for women in the Legislative Assembly of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

This amendment aims to enhance female representation and participation in the legislative processes of the region.
