Homestay Entrepreneurship Development Program for Youth of  District Samba Commences at Central university of Jammu

JAMMU, March 15: School of Business Studies under the patronage of Prof Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central university of Jammu and Sh. Abhishek Sharma, IAS Deputy Commissioner Samba jointly inaugurated the Skill development course on Homestay Entrepreneurship Development Programme for Youth of District Samba under SANKALP,  the MoU for which was signed between District Skill Committee, Samba and School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu in the presence of Hon’ble LG Sh. Manoj Sinha last month during his visit to campus.

The present initiative of District Skill Committee Samba and The School of Business Studies shall focus on imparting practical training to youth entrepreneurs across diverse skills. DC Samba further informed that this Project Skill Development and Youth Empowerment Programmes in Samba (SDYEP) under capacity building and skilling initiatives in samba district shall mainly focus on “Homestay Entrepreneurship Development Program” and focus on preparing young entrepreneurs who wish to convert their homes into a homestay and develop career in hospitality industry.

This capacity building consultancy project aims to create successful entrepreneurs who will in turn employ others for their business and continue the cycle of skilling and employment generation. The entrepreneurs can also cluster for different tourist activities including trekking, camping, glamping and many more depending on the local opportunities and offerings. It is pertinent to mention here that Project Team comprising of Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dr. Shahid Mushtaq, Dr. Neelika Arora and Dr. Anju Thapa have submitted a comprehensive report on Skill Gap Survey Study in District Samba and present Project is another endeavour of Project Team to train the youth of District Samba for income and employment generation through entrepreneurial ventures.  Dr Ranjeet Kumar Raman, HoD TTM along with Dr Asif Ali and Dr Rahul Thakur conducted sessions. District Tourism Officer Sh. Mumtaz Choudhary arranged the participants and provided administrative as well as logistic support for smooth conduct of the program along with Sh. Amanpreet Singh, Superintendent Govt. ITI Samba.

 Earlier Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dean, SBS welcomed all the participants and briefed them about the initiative and course. Dr. Shahid Mushtaq proposed a formal vote of thanks and Dr. Anju Thapa conducted the proceedings of the program.
