Horticulture department celebrates Independence Day with patriotic fervor
JAMMU, AUGUST 16: 78th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and gaiety at Directorate of Horticulture Jammu with Chief Guest C. L. Sharma, Director Horticulture Jammu, hoisting the Tricolour and took the salute.
In his address, C. L. Sharma recounted the rapid growth of India over 78 years of freedom. He also listed achievements recorded in Horticulture sector on the development front. Remembering the contribution of freedom fighters, the Director said freedom is hard earned through innumerable sacrifices made by people who rose above everything and contributed selflessly for the cause.
He also exhorted upon the people to follow the ideals of our freedom fighters and never forget the supreme sacrifices made by our forefathers who dreamt of an India making strides in every sphere.
Further, a Tiranga rally and Plantation drive was also organized which enthralled a gleefully cheering audience.
The event also witnessed distribution of keys of Tractors to the beneficiaries under HADP (Farm Mechanization & Automation).
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Joint Director Horticulture, Deputy Director Horticulture, Chief Horticulture Officers Jammu & Doda, CCI- Jammu, Assistant Director Horticulture, and other officers& Officials of Jammu province. Various progressive farmers, prominent citizens, social workers, media persons and public thronged the venue to witness the grand celebration of the national event.
