Horticulture Department holds Skill Development Camp on fruit, vegetable processing at Mallan Dessa

DODA, July 22: Department of Horticulture in coordination with the district administration Doda on Saturday organised a skill development camp  on Fruit and Vegetable processing here village Mallan -Dessa. The camp aimed to empower local women with knowledge and expertise in processing different useful products from fruits and vegetables.

Supervised by a team of experts, the skill camp focused on teaching participants the art of preparing jams, pickles, and other processed items.

The remote area of Dessa witnessed an overwhelming response as a large number of enthusiastic women actively participated in the camp.

The women received comprehensive training on different processing methods, including the preparation of delectable jams, flavorful pickles, and luscious tomato puree. By learning these valuable skills, the women were equipped to utilize surplus fruits and vegetables effectively, reducing wastage and creating opportunities for economic sustainability.

The event successfully fostered a spirit of entrepreneurship among the women, encouraging them to explore avenues for small-scale businesses and income generation through the sale of their processed products. This skill development camp organized by the Department of Horticulture at Mallan Dessa stands as a testament to the commitment of the district administration towards empowering its residents and promoting self-reliance in the region.
