Horticulture Department organises one day capacity building cum farmers’ awareness camp

UDHAMPUR, December 16: Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing Udhampur organized one day Capacity Building -cum- Farmers’ awareness camp aiming to strengthen up the Agriculture Marketing at Fruit and Vegetable market Kallar Himati Udhampur  under the chairmanship of  Anuj Kumar Verma, Area Marketing Officer Udhampur-Reasi / District Nodal Officer PMFME District Udhampur.

A large number of farmers, Agri-preneurs, traders, FPOs and cooperative members participated in the said camp and acquired the latest technical know-how in pre-harvest and post-harvest operations.

In his welcome address, AGMO Udhampur spoke about the facilities created in the fruit and vegetable Market Udhampur and other initiatives put in place for the welfare of all stakeholders. He entrusted upon to work in close co-ordination for vibrant market functioning and direct marketing facilities for progressive farmers of the district focussing for consumer’s preference-based produce and products.

Dr. Munish Sharma, Sr. Scientist from SKUAST-KVK Udhampur encouraged the participating farmers and others to avail optimum opportunities in agriculture sector as initiated by the Government aiming to ensure double income to the farmers. He imparted various latest techniques and technologies which are farmer-oriented and enhancing quality of life as well.  “Meri Kahani meri zubani” was disclosed by one  Reva Rajput, a PMFME entrepreneur who inspired one and all and was also honored by the Department  on the spot.   

Dr. Sukhbir Singh, District Agriculture Officer applauded the role of the Department as to how industrious farmers, entrepreneurs are being provided complete hand holding for creating employment avenues in the agriculture sector.

Anuj Kumar Verma Area Marketing Officer Udhampur/ Reasi deliberated over the marketing strategies and initiatives taken up by the Department for the economic welfare of the farming community in particular motivating all the participants to opt for CSS like PMFME. HADP, Support for Grading and Packaging etc for realization of KHUSH-HALI and ATMA NIRBHARTA.

Among others present on the occasion were  Raj Kumar Mathur, President Fruit and Vegetable Association Udhampur,  Snehal Bogal, Asstt. Registrar Cooperative, Anil Bhat from Lead bank Udhampur,  Shiny Sharma, DRP for PMFME scheme in Udhampur district.
