Horticulture Planning & Marketing Department hosts awareness programme at Sangaldan
RAMBAN, AUGUST 08: As part of nationwide ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, the Horticulture Department has started a series of activities to inform and encourage the farmers about the potential schemes aimed at creation of employment in agro sectors.
As part of the series, an awareness program was organized at Sangaldan by Area Marketing Officer Sunil Bakshi. The officers present highlighted the economic benefits of horticulture and allied sector schemes. They encouraged the unemployed youth to avail the benefits of the schemes to establish startups in the highly potential Agriculture and allied sectors .
During the programme, experts demonstrated modern pruning techniques that prove fruitful. The farmers were informed that summer pruning reduces the barren and unproductive area and facilitates light penetration for excellent fruit quality and colour development.
They also highlighted the Marketing Units scheme under which youth have started their units in the area. “Under this scheme, youth can purchase the product directly from the farmers and sell it to the consumers which would help in employment generation.
