Speaking on the occasion Bhalla said that Bharat Jodo Yatra has managed to drill a hole in the wall of lies and hatred that face our republic. It has let in a ray of hope and some fresh air. The ruling BJP, which is battling anti-incumbency, is visibly shaken. It is not just the huge turnout that is giving the BJP sleepless nights, but Rahul’s new avatar as a leader who is both affable and assertive, and his instant connect with the common man.
He said the history of the Congress party was “very much connected to Kashmir history” and all like-minded people who don’t believe in the “divisive politics of the BJP” would join the march in JK. He said people of India are seeing the real face of Rahul Gandhi during the march which is meant to unite India against hate and divisive politics. He said the Yatra spearheaded by Gandhi was gaining momentum with each passing day, indicating that the people of India want secular ethics intact within the country. The yatra is aimed to send a clear and loud message to divisive forces who caused massive damage to the country and its constitution,” he said.
Bhalla further said that present BJP government is direction less and has only given rise to a situation of uncertainty, chaos and confusion. He said J&K was passing through the “worst ever misrule”.There is total policy paralysis as the government has failed to live up to the expectations of the people and address the problems of farmers, youths, employees, casual labourers and traders, he added.”Every section of the society is suffering as their grievances are not addressed.
They are only concerned about welfare of their families. Large scale favouritism, nepotism and corruption prevails in J&K, he alleged. He said BJP has played with the sentiments of the people who voted them to power. He cautioned the people about the designs of communal and divisive forces in the J&K which were constantly on a lookout for opportunities to strike and create hatred.
Criticizing the incumbent government, Bhalla said present situation is the outcome of government’s inefficiency to deal with the situation. If government was really serious about welfare of people it should have taken on board all the political parties of J&K and should have listened to their concerns restoring statehood and conducting early elections,” he said.
Government wants to keep all powers in Civil Secretariat and not holding polls on one pretext or the other,” Bhalla said. The Congress leader said that the BJP Government has utterly proved failure on all fronts, including governance and deliverance. He expressed serious concern over the betrayal of BJP with people of Jammu and its compromise on equal share in development and employment.
Bhalla said that the public of Jammu was accusing present dispensation, both in J&K and the Centre level, for adopting anti-people, anti-former, anti-youth and anti-poor policies since their formation and the public of the entire area was suffering due to lack of basic day-to-day amenities like lack of un-interrupted power supply , portable water, non-availability essential commodities and medical facilities and steep rise in prices of the daily consumable commodities.“The failure of the Government exposed the real face of BJP and its leadership before the public of the region,” he said.
“The unemployed youths are already suffering a lot due to the militancy and disturbance in J&K for more than two decades and the Govt sprinkle salt on their wounds thus leading to frustration and depression among the educated unemployed youth,” he said
Bhalla said that this is really a matter of concern the Political Party who get huge mandate from Jammu region and now is playing hide and seek when it comes on to speak for the Youth of Jammu region. He reminded BJP that before election they have made huge promises but their criminal silence on issue of employment has clearly exposed them. He asked BJP leaders to come clear on this issue let the Jammu people know why BJP is playing hide and seek when it comes with future of Youth.
Bhalla said that disillusionment of people with the BJP government is growing, as governance is at the lowest depth and development has taken nose dive in the past over three years.“People are realising the futility of electing a government that is not only insensitive towards their problems but also responsible in adding to these on every front”, he said. He said Congress is the only destination for those who want peace to sustain and development to remain focused agenda of the government in the state.
He said the initiatives taken in this regard by Congress governments especially the previous one has been negated by the present anti-people dispensation. Bhalla said that agenda of BJP is nothing but an eye wash for the people and said that BJP has taken Jammu for granted and has failed to recognize the developmental priorities and represent the aspirations of the people. He said that BJP has failed to represent the sentiments and deliver the promises it made to the electorate and has been merely indulging in rhetoric to emotionally charge the people for their political interests.
Yogesh Sawhney speaking on the occasion, said due to wrong policies of the BJP dispensation, the normal life in entire J&K is in jeopardy, especially as the government has lost will to govern. The lack of political direction has terribly impacted the administration that is seen wanting in every sector. In this context, he referred to the administrative breakdown, developmental paralysis and poor condition of utility services in most parts of Jammu. This has made the life of people, particularly in the Jammu region miserable.
While the people have been left to fend for themselves, BJP indulging in real politic to escape responsibility, he maintained. He said government has lost its direction and its myopic vision has caused a developmental vacuum, which if not addressed push the people to wall. He expressed anguish over dilapidated road network and ill kempt utility services.
Former Minister said that Govt failed on the governance front and shying away from people, as they have nothing to claim as achievement during the past eight years. He said the developmental tempo initiated and sustained by Congress government during six years has come to a grinding halt and all tall claims and promises delivered before and after formation of the government proved to be hoax.
