ICAR Foundation Day observed at Kupwara
DC Kupwara stresses for handholding of Agri-entrepreneurs
KUPWARA, JULY 16: In order to celebrate India Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) Foundation Day, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara today organized a function here.
The function was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan.
Addressing the function, the DC appreciated the Members of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) for doing commendable job in their fields of activity. He stressed upon the KVK officers to further improve their involvement with the FPOs vis a vis handholding of Agri-entrepreneurs which will boost their livelihood and overall employment generation scenario of the district.
Ayushi urged the entrepreneurs to not remain dependent on the Government rather become self-reliant by upskilling themselves. She asked them to identify bulk buyers to make assured income and market. She wished them success of their employment units.
The DC appealed to all the participants including scientists and farmers to work with added dedication and hardwork to bring Rainbow Revolution in the district which shall make it self-reliant and bring prosperity to the people.
On the occasion, Members of various FPOs and progressive Farmers interacted with the DC and shared their experience of work. They also put forth different issues pertaining to their business.
The DC heard them patiently and assured full support from the District Administration.
KVK Head, Dr. Kaiser Mohiddin also spoke and said that the ICAR Foundation Day is celebrated every year with an aim to provide awareness to the farmers about new technologies in scientific farming from Institutions like ICAR. He said the old perception of farming by illiterates has now changed and highly educated persons are now seen involved in different Agri-entrepreneurship to change their future.
He also assured the farmer participants about the support from KVK including establishment of a shop at Regipora for selling their products and arrangement for their training.
Earlier, the DC inspected stalls installed by different FPOs at KVK Office Kupwara during which she was briefed about the different varieties of produce including pulses, high yield seeds, fruits and handicrafts.
KVK Head, Senior Scientists, Chairmen of various Food Processing Organizations (FPO) and a large number of women agri-entrepreneurs and farmers attended the function.
