ICSSR sponsored National Conference concluded at School of Business Studies, CUJ
Jammu, 12 September 2024 : Central University of Jammu organized a National Conference on the topic Gender Inclusion, Empowerment and Dignity for Sustainable Development under the guidance and mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi.
The event marked the gracious presence of distinguished guests, keynote speakers, researchers and resource persons from corporate and academia. The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu on 11th September. The conference witnessed the presence of Prof. Girish Chandra Tripathi, Chairman, HEC, Uttar Pradesh, Sh. Manish Singh, MD, Bhawna Motels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd. Orchha, MP, Sh. O. P. Bhagat, Director, Skill Development, UT of J&K, Ms. Leena Padha, Director, Mission Directorate Skill Development, UT of J&K, Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director, JKEDI for the valedictory function.
Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dean School of Business Studies and Convener of National Conference in her closing address appreciated the efforts of faculty members under the visionary leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain in carrying out academic and research activities in the University. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Bhasin impressed upon the august gathering that more than 90 papers were presented in six technical sessions during the conference and contributors from across the country participated in the event.
Prof. Girish Chandra Tripathi, Chairman, HEC, Uttar Pradesh addressed the august gathering and provided a detailed overview of Gender Inclusion, empowerment and dignity for sustainable development and in realizing the dream of Hon’ble Prime Minister of achieving Viksit Bharat @2047.
Sh. Manish Singh, MD, Bhawna Motels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd. in his closing remarks apprised the audience about various initiatives of the Govt. for women empowerment. Sh. O. P. Bhagat, Director, Skill Development, UT of J&K in his remarks pointed out that female workforce participation rate continues to be low, being one of the lowest in South Asia. He also informed the gathering about various skilling, upskilling and reskilling initiatives initiated by the Department.
Ms. Leena Padha, Director, Mission Directorate Skill Development, UT of J&K in her address briefed the audience that digital divide persists with 33.3% women compared to 57.1% men reporting ever using the internet between 2019-2024. She highlighted that for economic emancipation of women skilling is pivotal.
Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director, JKEDI in his address stressed the need for change in attitude of youth, women and others from job seeking behaviour to job creation would address extremely large number of economic and social problems facing India and the world economy can be majorly mitigated if we address these implicitly connected dots.
Prof. Brijmohan Singh Bhau, I/C Librarian, Central University of Jammu, Prof. Ashwani Nanda, School of Social Science, Central University of Jammu addressed the gathering during valedictory session. During the inaugural session, MoU was exchanged between National Institute of Securities Markets and Central University of Jammu for Capacity Building in the Securities Markets.
Six technical sessions were conducted during these two days coordinated by Dr. Jaya Bhasin, Dr. Shahid Mushtaq, Dr. Asif Ali, Dr. Susmita Ekka and Mr. Biswa bhusan Pradhan faculty members from School of Business Studies, Dr. Bhatt Iqbal Majeed, Assistant Professor, Social Work, Dr. G V Snigdha Raj, Assistant Professor, CCRC and Dr. Varun Abrol, Assistant Professor from HP University, Shimla.
The event witnessed participation of various Dean of Schools and Head of Departments of Central University of Jammu including Dr. Nancy Mengi, Head, Social Work, Dr, Ranjeet Kumar Raman, Head, TTM, Dr. Natresh Kumar, Principal, Community College. The organising team included Dr. Jaya Bhasin, Dr Shahid Mushtaq, & Dr. Asif Ali. Ms. Diya Raina and Ms. Rajlakshmi conducted the proceedings of the Programme and Dr. Shahid Mushtaq proposed a formal vote of thanks.
