IIM Jammu inaugurates leadership course for Kishtwar youth
KISHTWAR, March 27: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu’s “Community Leadership Executive Course” for youth from Kishtwar was inaugurated by Director Skill Development Jammu and Kashmir, Sudershan Kumar. The event was attended by Director IIM Jammu, BS Sahay; Dean of Academics, Jabir Ali and other programme directors and faculty members. The course has been organised in collaboration with the District Administration Kishtwar, Mission Youth and Government Polytechnic College Kishtwar.
The chief guest highlighted the challenges faced by local industries in Jammu and discussed potential solutions. He emphasised that the leadership training programme from IIM Jammu would give youth a leading edge in skill development, business incubation, entrepreneurship and the development of skill hubs in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahay mentioned that the Community Leadership Programme is part of the institute’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative for the people and community of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged participants to work towards making Kishtwar hundred percent literate. He stated that the programme would pave the way for meaningful outcomes for the people and community of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof Jabir Ali stated that skill development is crucial and encouraged participants to dream big and become “job creators rather than job seekers”. He said that the leadership training programme would enhance the skills of youth from Kishtwar and pave the way for sustainable development and growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof BS Sahay engaged in a discussion with participants about their career progression and the challenges they face in their district. The inaugural ceremony ended on a positive note with a vote of thanks from Programme Director IIM Jammu, Vaseem Akram.
