IIM Jammu organises free eye, dental check-up camp in collaboration with SOS Children’s Village Orphanage, GMCH Jammu, IGGDC
JAMMU, February 25: IIM Jammu, as an initiative to provide quality and overall healthcare to underprivileged children, organized a free eye and dental check-up camp at its Canal Road Transit Campus, under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director . The initiative was organized in partnership with SOS Children’s Village Jammu Orphanage, Government Medical College Jammu, and Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu. The entire event was overseen and coordinated by Empyrean, Student Committee under the guidance of Student Affairs of IIM Jammu.
Empyrean is the annual management and cultural fest of IIM Jammu. Spanning over three days, this extravaganza will be held in March at IIM Jammu and offer a plethora of events, ranging from dance competitions to singing contests to a fashion show and a battle of the bands.
Ninety-five orphanage children participated in this social initiative. Coming from socially and economically weaker backgrounds, the students at the institute ensured that the children were taken care of during their time at the campus. The faculty, students, and staff also contributed to the noble cause by donating, helping to manage the event, and spending quality time with the kids.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu lauded the efforts of the partners and the participation of the youth in this benevolent initiative. He spoke about the importance of sensitizing the young generation on their social responsibilities and how such campaigns contribute to society, and the nation, at large.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu mentioned the relevance of regular health check-ups and how this noble initiative has been instrumental in contributing to the betterment of mankind and society. He further mentioned that at IIM Jammu, we are always committed to the welfare of the society and nation at large.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, and Chairperson of Placements, and Dr. Ashish Kumar, Chairperson Student Affairs, IIM Jammu also graced the event and interacted with the underprivileged children.
IIM Jammu intends to organize more such drives in the future, thereby keeping up with its commitment to help make lives better and become a key stakeholder in fostering a healthier nation.
