Illegal Narghile use in Nagrota prompts action by Administration
JAMMU, JANUARY 22: Officials in Nagrota have acted swiftly against unauthorised possession and consumption of Narghile (Hookah) in two well-known establishments in the area.
The action followed multiple complaints and tip off from the reliable sources, leading to an immediate response from the concerned authorities.
Tehsildar Sumit Kohli, accompanied by Naib Tehsildar and a police team led by SHO Nagrota, conducted a late evening visit to the premises on January 21, 2024. The inspection revealed that Narghile (Hookah) was being kept without proper permission, violating Section 133 Sub-section (b) of the CrPC.
Considering the health risks associated with the unauthorized use of Narghile (Hookah), four units – two from one establishment and two from another – were seized on the spot. The seized items were handed over to SHO Nagrota for further action.
The establishments involved were also directed to provide an explanation for why legal action should not be taken against them for the violation.
