IMFA JU celebrates World Dance Day
JAMMU, April 29- Kathak Dance department IMFA University of Jammu Celebrated World Dance Day at Kathak Dance Department where eminent artists, thinkers, practitioners, writers, faculty members of IMFA and students witness the Kathak Dance performance followed by Dogri fusion dance.
At the outset, Dr. Priya Dutta, incharge Music and H.O.D Kathak Dance Department briefed about the occasion.She said this day is celebrated all over the world on the birth Anniversary of Jean Gorgeous Noveree french Dancer and founder of modern ballet. He introduced modern ballet in 18th century.

Students of Kathak Dance Department Sunidhi Banerjee and Abhishek performed traditional Kathak dance composed in Dhamar Taal, accompanied by Dr Priya Dutta on Padant, Vijay Kumar On Tabla and Rajkumar Sharma on Harmonium. After that, Saba Majid and Shivam Shukla Presented Virha Ras followed by experimental kathak dance fusion on Popular Dogri songs of Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar was presented by Sunidhi Banerjee, Sonia and Manu Saini. The fusion was Prepared by Dr Priya Dutta and Guru Purshotam Kumar, which was highly appreciated by the dignitaries as well as others.

The mesmerizing Kathak Dance program was attended by renowned Dogri writer and Sahitya Akademi awardee Prof.Lalit Mangotra,renowned poetess Director Rangyug Sh.Deepak kumar, Swami Antar Nirav, Hardeep Singh Deep, Parneeta Kapoor Senior Tabla Player Guru Purshotam Kumar and faculty members of IMFA Sunil Raina, Suraj Singh, Dr. Sumeet Madan, Rajesh Kumar, Dr Jasmeet Kour, Dr Roshi Shaminotra, Rohit Verma, and students of IMFA.
