Implementation of District Environmental Plan reviewed at Doda
DC asks for strict enforcement of polythene ban
DODA, February 24: Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan today reviewed Implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP) at a meeting of District Environment Committee (DEC) held here in his office chamber at DC Office complex.
At the outset, the DC asked the DEC members to regularly attend the Committee meeting on last Thursday of every month and submit the action taken report on the decisions taken in the past meetings as per the guidelines of NGT.
On the issue of disposal of Bio medical waste (SO-710), the CMO was asked to ensure functioning of STP at Bhaderwah hospital and communicate in writing to the higher authorities for setting up STPs/ETPs at Gandoh and Thathri hospital.
The DMO informed the committee that the department seized 8 vehicles involved in illegal mining last month. DC ordered for joint checking of construction and demolition waste by MVD, Geology and Mining, Traffic Police and Pollution Control Committee and asked them to submit the action taken report weekly to the ADC Doda.
The Forest Division apprised that the department has planted more than 2 lakh plants, for which the DC directed to submit the geotagged photographs of the enclosures.
He instructed Div Officer PCC & EO MCs to ensure total ban on use of single use plastic below 120 microns in the district. He asked to establish Joint Naka at Km 9 near Assar to plug the entry of single use plastic below 120 microns into the district.
ACP, ACD and BDOs were asked to monitor collection and disposal of single use plastic and other kinds of Wastes in their respective jurisdictions.
On the information of seizure of 116 Kgs of plastic by Divisional Officer PCC, DC expressed that the seizure must have been more to send a message across the society that use of the banned plastic is not allowed in the district.
Contractors and construction agencies were warned not to dump construction waste on the sites other than designated for the same.
Recharging of Water bodies by channelizing rain water and snow was also stressed upon.
Threadbare discussion was also held regarding action taken on execution of DEP in respect of Solid Waste management, Domestic Sewage Management, e-Waste and Water Waste Management etc.
