Indian Coast Guard conducts successful coastal security exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 18 (ANI): Indian Coast Guard has successfully conducted the Coastal Security Exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ on October 16-17 for the State of Gujarat and the Union Territory of Daman & Diu.
“Indian Coast Guard Regional Headquarters at Gandhinagar coordinated a Coastal Security Exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ on 16-17 October 2024, for the State of Gujarat and Union Territory of Daman & Diu. This is the second exercise in this year and aims at honing the maritime and coastal security aspects and validation of existing SOPs,” as per an offficial press release.
The two day “SAGAR KAVACH – 02/24” holistically analysed the effectiveness of Coastal Security Mechanism.Various Stakeholders viz. Indian Navy, State Police, Marine Police, BSF, National Security Guard, GMB, Fisheries, Intelligence Bureau, Port authorities, CISF etc participated in the exercise, coordinated by ICG. Significant among the assets participating are Ships and Boats from Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy and Marine Police apart from extensive aerial surveillance of coastal areas by Indian Coast Guard aircraft and Drones, as per the release.
“Various Operational scenarios were simulated to assess and enhance synergy and efficacy of efforts by stakeholders in the Maritime Security environment,” the release stated.
