Infosys Vizag campus will be a milestone for Andhra Pradesh in the IT sector: Minister Gudivada Amarnath

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 13 (ANI): State Industries and IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath said that the Visakhapatnam Campus of Infosys at Rushikonda will be a milestone for Andhra Pradesh in the IT sector.

“Minister Amarnath, District Collector Dr A Mallikharjuna, and GVMC (Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation) Commissioner Saikanth Verma inspected the Infosys Vizag campus on Thursday. He first inspected the premises of the office and decided on the departments to be visited by Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy on this occasion,” according to a statement.

The Minister advised the Infosys officials to make appropriate arrangements, as Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy may hold a face-to-face meeting with the Infosys employees.

Later, in a press conference organised at Infosys premises, Minister Amarnath said, “After the bifurcation of the state, Hyderabad has achieved a large-scale development in the field of IT, and Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy thought that Visakhapatnam should also be taken to a higher level in this field.”

“Amarnath explained that he felt that this would be possible only if leading IT industries came to Visakha and took steps in this direction. In this context, Infosys agreed to start its operations in Visakhapatnam last September,” according to the statement.

He said, “The announcement by the management of Infosys that they will start their operations with a thousand employees in the first phase is a good development for the IT sector of Visakhapatnam.”

“The government has already taken the initiative to make Visakhapatnam an IT destination, and many companies have entered Visakhapatnam,” he added.

He opined, “If the leading IT company Infosys comes to Visakhapatnam, the rest of the big IT companies will focus on Visakhapatnam, and only then there will be a chance for Visakhapatnam to grow in the IT sector.”

“Minister Amarnath wished Infosys to move towards providing jobs to 3,000 people. He promised to provide necessary support on behalf of the government for this,” the statement said.

Amarnath said, “Four to five thousand employees from Visakha are working in Infosys companies located in different parts of the country, and the Infosys management feels that better results can be obtained if they are transferred to the Visakhapatnam office.”

The Minister expressed hope that more people will get job opportunities here, as Infosys management also has the idea that the workforce is easily available in Visakha.
