Intensive market checking conducted in Doda town
DODA, MARCH 29: A team of officers led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda, Dr RK Bharti conducted a surprise market inspection in Doda town to check for food adulteration, hoarding of commodities and to ensure the quality, quantity and hygiene of edibles and other consumables. The market inspection teams, headed by ADC Doda, have already been constituted and are conducting regular inspections in view of the holy days of Ramazan and Navratras.
The team also included Additional Superintendent of Police Doda, Assistant Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Doda, Assistant Commissioner Legal Metrology, veterinary doctors from Sheep Husbandry Department, representatives of the Food Safety Department and Municipal Council Doda. They inspected various food establishments including sweet shops, fruit and vegetable shops, chicken shops, mutton shops, kiryana shops and milk shops in the town.
Erring shopkeepers were fined a total of Rs 5800 for offences such as not displaying rate lists, unhygienic conditions and selling rotten fruits and vegetables. The team also inspected jewellery shops, hardware shops and other establishments and sensitised shopkeepers about maintaining quality and hygiene in and around the market.
Bharti urged shopkeepers to display rate lists in a conspicuous place in their shops, maintain hygiene and refrain from overcharging, hoarding and adulteration. Similar market inspections were reported from Bhaderwah and Assar markets. Regular inspections will also be conducted in Thathri, Gandoh, Assar and Bhaderwah areas.
