International Day against Drug Abuse celebrated at Anantnag
ANANTNAG, June 26: The District Administration in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office along with education, health, and other departments today celebrated the International Day against Drug Abuse.
Dy. Commissioner Anantnag, SF Hamid was the chief guest on the occasion.
Various speakers from the department of Excise & Taxation, Health, DSWO, Education and schools discussed the hazardous ill effects of drug abuse and the ways to get rid of this menace.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that drug abuse being a serious concern is the duty of every responsible citizen to play the role in eradicating the menace from society. He said PRIs and panchayats have to play a vital role by taking initiatives like drug mukt panchayats etc.
SF Hamid said that the district Administration is taking every step viz. conducting awareness camps, seminars, counseling etc which are yielding good results.
The event was attended by the ADC (G), CEO, DSWO, Excise and Taxation Officers, principals and students of institutions, health officers besides Asha Workers, volunteers , SHGs etc.
