International Red Cross Day observed at Kupwara
KUPWARA, May 8: On the eve of International Red Cross Day, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir today inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp at Environment Hall Handwara.
The camp was conducted by Indian Red Cross Society in collaboration with District Administration, Army & Police. BDC Chairman Langate, Town Commander and SHO Handwara were present on the occasion.
During the blood donation camp, ADC Handwara, BDC Chairman Langate, SHO Handwara, army troops, police personnel and media persons donated their blood.
The ADC appreciated the initiative and said that such programmes are the need of the hour and everyone should come forward to lend a helping hand by donating blood to save precious lives.
In Kupwara, the Youth Services & Sports department conducted an awareness programme at Boys Higher Secondary School Kupwara in which a large number of students participated.
During the programme, the speakers highlighted the importance of the International Red Cross Day which promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all people.
