Int’l day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking observed by GDC Ramgarh

SAMBA, JUN 26: Government. Degree College Ramgarh, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Department and SANKALP, Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Samba, organized an awareness program to commemorate International Day on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event was organized under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.


Highlighting the importance of the day, she emphasized the detrimental impact of drug abuse on individuals, family and society at large. The whole event was coordinated by Nodal Officer Prof. Brham Dutt (NSS).


The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Nawaz Sharief, District Social Welfare Officer, Samba who attended as the Chief Guest. Sharief emphasized the importance of collective efforts in eradicating drug abuse and praised the initiatives undertaken by GDC Ramgarh and the district administration.


The Programme began by displaying a documentary to the students regarding over use of drugs and its effects on one’s life. Main motive of showing the documentary was to spread awareness about ill-effects of drug abuse among the youth.


After the screening of the documentary , a symposium competition was held in which students shared their views on drug abuse. The first position was secured by Chahat Tadyal, and the second and third position was secured by Bhumika Sharma and Babli Choudhary, respectively. The SANKALP team also circulated the toll free number for Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan. Students were felicitated with momentum and certificates. At the end, pledge against drug abuse was taken and refreshment was distributed among the students.
