Is Black Ops 3 Cross Platform?
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 received its fair share of praise due to how fantastic it was as a multiplayer game in the lineage of the iconic shooter series.
It was a fast paced game that contained jetpack-based combat, which meant that players were hardly ever standing still or moving slowly.
In 2015 it was a thrilling game that people all round the world loved. It’s still available to play online today, which has led some players to wonder the all-important question: Is Black Ops 3 cross-platform?

On the downside, Black Ops 3 is not a cross-platform CoD. Call of Duty became a crossplay-friendly franchise in 2019, letting users connect no matter their platform. As Black Ops 3 was released in 2015, it falls before that threshold, meaning it wouldn’t ever have launched as a cross-platform title.
At present Black Ops 3 is availble to play on these following platforms:

- macOS
Since, there’s no crossplay in Black Ops 3, players cannot play together across platforms in a single game session.

Why Black Ops 3 Isn’t Crossplay Supported?
Cross-play is a heavy lift in many cases for developers and console companies. What this means is backend services have to be synchronized across all platforms. But there is also the challenge of making sure someone using a mouse and keyboard has a fair game against someone using a controller as it controls different patterns.
There were also some business-related issues, such as exclusive content deals between some of the game publishers and console manufacturers that may have discouraged cross-play from being implemented.

Is Black Ops 3 Cross Progression?
Unfortuantely, Black Ops 3 does not support cross progression either. This means you won’t be able to save your game progress if you ever wish to switch to a different gaming platform.
For example if you are playing on PS4 and have reached a certain level, and you switch to a different console, then all your progress from the previpus platform will be lost and you’ll have to start fresh.
