ITI Kishtwar hosts National Apprenticeship Mela

KISHTWAR, JANUARY 08: The Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kishtwar, in collaboration with the District Industrial Centre, organized the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela in line with the Prime Minister’s Skill India Mission, here today.

The event saw the participation of over 80 applicants across 15 sectors, representing more than 10 establishments and offering 15 distinct trades. The objective was to encourage companies to hire more apprentices, promoting skill development and enhancing employability across various fields such as welding, electrical work, fashion designing, sewing technology, computer operation, carpentry, and more.

Hosted by Anoop Sharma, Principal ITI Kishtwar, and supported by Inamul Haq and Irshad Ahmed, Senior Faculty of ITI Kishtwar, the one-day event enabled applicants to shape their careers through apprenticeship training.

Applicants need an 8th-12th grade pass certificate, a skill training certificate, an ITI Diploma, or a graduate degree to participate. This initiative offers young and aspiring individuals the opportunity to select from over 15 trades, including welding, electrical work, fashion designing, sewing technology, computer operation, mechanical work, among others. Moreover, successful candidates will receive certifications recognized by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training, significantly enhancing their employability post-training.

The primary aim of this program is to motivate companies and local establishments to engage more apprentices while aiding employers in identifying and nurturing talent through comprehensive training and practical skill development.
