Jammu admin distributes Emergency Response Kits to Aapda Mitras
JAMMU, APRIL 08: District Administration Jammu distributed 50 Emergency Response Kits to newly trained Aapda Mitra volunteers at a function held at the district headquarters.
During the event, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order) Harvinder Singh, urged the Aapda Mitra volunteers to use their training to raise public awareness and mitigate the effects of disasters.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Administration), Sandeep Seointra, stated that these volunteers will serve as first responders in the event of a disaster and will use their knowledge and expertise to mitigate its impact.
Assistant Commissioner General, Manisha, informed that a total of 300 Aapda Mitra volunteers from Jammu District have undergone training in various aspects of disaster management such as water rescue, flood rope crossing, rappelling and rescue from high buildings.
It is worth mentioning that these volunteers have undergone special training under the Government of India’s sponsored scheme “Up scaling of Aapda Mitra” for 12 days at the Central Training Institute in Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The event was also attended by Principal CTI Kot Bhalwal, Dev Raj, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Arvinder Kotwal and Adjutant SDRF 2nd Battalion.
