Jammu and Kashmir UT Unveils maiden Space Lab in Govt School
DC inaugurates observatory at GBHSS Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, September 26: Marking a historic moment, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir proudly inaugurated its first Space Lab, specially designed for government school students.
The unveiling ceremony took place at Government Higher Secondary School Boys Kishtwar in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, Chief Education Officer Prehlad Bhagat and I/C Principal of the host school Sandeep Rathore.
Students and staff of the school were also in attendance to witness this landmark cosmic event.
The pioneering Space Lab, developed under the ISRO space tutor programme by Vyomika Space Academy and funded by the Directorate of Education Jammu, represents a significant leap in educational technology. The lab is equipped with a high-tech telescope, ISRO Rocket and Satellite demonstration models, drones, aircraft etc.
This will enable students to explore the wonders of the cosmos and notable space missions from ISRO.
In an interactive session, CEO Vyomika Space Academy, Govind Yadav, gave a detailed insight into the lab’s functioning and potential to inspire and enhance students’ knowledge of Space, Science and technology
Dr. Devansh Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged students to make the best use of this remarkable space lab. He emphasized that it would not only foster a deeper understanding of space but also inspire students to consider careers in space sciences.
This initiative is expected to ignite interest in astronomy-related activities at the school level, potentially guiding students towards careers in this fascinating field.
It’s noteworthy that students from the 6th to 12th standard in government schools will have the opportunity to receive skill development training sessions from the cutting-edge lab.
In a further testament to its commitment to promoting space education, the Vyomika Space Academy will host a state-level inter-school Hydro Rocket and Astronomy Workshop on October 15, 2023, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
Students from different schools were encouraged to participate and expand their knowledge in these captivating fields.
The Space Lab inauguration marks a significant milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s educational landscape, fostering scientific curiosity and innovation among the region’s young minds.
