Restoration work is underway, and travelers are advised to postpone their journeys on this route until the road is completely cleared.
Traffic authorities issued an advisory urging people to avoid using NH44. “The highway is blocked due to a major landslide at Kishtwar Pather and shooting stones at several locations along the route,” the advisory stated. Heavy rainfall throughout the region has further hampered road conditions.
The advisory recommends travelers stay updated on the situation by contacting the Traffic Control Unit (TCU) for the latest information.
The closure of NH44 is not the only transportation hurdle in the region. The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road (SSG road), Mughal road, and Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road (Sinthan road) are also currently closed.
Authorities are working to clear the roads as quickly as possible.
