Jammu University Udhampur campus and J&K forest department jointly hold plantation drive
Udhampur, August 21 As part of the Green J&K Drive 2023–24, which was envisioned and started by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Sh. Manoj Sinha at IIM Jammu, a plantation drive was organized by the J&K forest department in collaboration with Udhampur Campus (Garnai-Lotta), University of Jammu.
The plantation drive was attended by representatives of the J&K Forest Department and other governmental organisations, and it was live streamed. On the occasion, saplings of a variety of plants, including Amla, Guava, Arjun, Harad, Jamun, Neem, etc., were planted on the Udhampur Campus.The Green J&K initiative seeks to advance sustainable living by preserving, safeguarding, and restoring, rewilding, and reclaiming the natural bioresources of the world. While planting saplings, the importance of the plantation drive and its effects on the environment, both locally and globally, was discussed.
While conveying their gratitude to the J&K forest department for holding the plantation drive at the Udhampur campus, the faculty, students and staff of the Udhampur Campus provided all essential measures to guarantee a seamless and successful plantation.
Local residents led by Mr. Vikram Singh, the Sarpanch of the Village Garnai, staff members including Dr.Mamta Sharma, Mrs. Taruna Dubey, and Dr.Kamani Dutta, and students from the Udhampur Campus participated in the ceremony.
