JD(U) Leader Vivek Bali Responds to Mehbooba Mufti’s Statement on DGP, Expresses Support for Police
Srinagar, July 17: Janata Dal (United) State General Secretary Vivek Bali reacted to remarks made by PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Mufti’s comments followed accusations by Jammu and Kashmir police chief R R Swain, who claimed that political parties in the Union Territory were nurturing terror leaders for electoral gains. In response, Mufti demanded Swain’s dismissal, citing rising terrorist attacks.
JD(U) state general secretary Vivek Bali issued a statement to media, criticizing Mufti’s statements. “It seems that Mehbooba Mufti is trying to criminalize the situation for her political purposes,” Bali said. He affirmed the police’s effectiveness, stating, “The police are doing their jobs well and have protected us. PDP’s links with separatists are known.”
Bali emphasized JD(U)’s support for the security forces, highlighting their strict stance on militancy. “Our security forces will respond appropriately. Their zero tolerance for militancy is commendable, and the number of local militants is significantly lower compared to earlier times,” he concluded.
