Bishan Das, a retired Assistant Cultural Officer, dedicated over four decades of his life to enriching the cultural landscape of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory.
Hailing from a lineage of illustrious musicians, Sh. Bishan Das inherited a passion for music from his father and marked the fifth generation of his family devoted to this art form. His journey commenced in 1970 when he embarked on his singing career at Radio Kashmir Jammu. Over the years, he captivated audiences with his soul-stirring melodies and profound lyrics, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural heritage of the region.
Sh. Bishan Das was not only a gifted folk singer but also a prolific composer and writer, contributing significantly to the cultural tapestry of Jammu & Kashmir. His compositions echoed the essence of the region’s rich traditions and garnered widespread acclaim.
