J&K DGP sanctions ₹3.72 cr special welfare relief, welfare loan
JAMMU, 3 January 2024: Continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families and Next of Kins (NoKs) of the deceased police personnel the Director General of Police (DGP) R.R Swain has sanctioned ₹2.20 crore as Special Welfare Relief in favour of dependents and legal heirs of 10 deceased police personnel.
He has also sanctioned over ₹1.51 crore welfare loans in favour of 119 serving police personnel to meet their immediate financial needs and ₹2 lakh financial assistance in favour of NoK of 02 martyred Police officials.
The special welfare relief of ₹22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel SI Ab Hamid, ASI Sukh Dev Singh, HC Mohammad Yaseen, HC Ichpaul Sing, HC Mohd Sadeeq, HC kamal Kishore SgCt. Daya Kishan, SgCt Kuldeep Singh, Ct Bilal Ahmad and follower Altaf Hussain who passed away while in service.
Out of this amount (special welfare relief) ₹1 lakh each has already been paid to the families/NoK for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units/Districts. The financial assistance has been given out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
Welfare loan of ₹42 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 42 police personnel for self marriage. While as ₹1.50 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of 63 police personnel to meet the expenses of the marriage of their sons/daughters.
11 police personnel have been provided welfare loan of ₹1.5 lakh each for higher/professional education of their wards. While as ₹1 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of one police personal for the technical education of his son.
₹50 thousand each has been sanctioned in favour of two police personnel for circumcision/Akhandpath of his ward. The welfare loan sanctioned to the Police personnel is refundable and is recovered in monthly installments from their salaries without any interest.
Besides, the DGP has also sanctioned ₹1l akh each in favour of NoK of martyr Ct. Mushtaq Ahmad & Ct Raj Kumar as financial assistance for marriage ceremonies of their daughters.
