J&K government bans students and teachers from attending ABVP’s Tiranga Rally, citing infringement on democratic rights: Pawan Sharma

Pawan Sharma, a senior BJP leader and Prabhari for District Doda, has vehemently condemned the J&K government’s decision to prohibit students and teachers from participating in the Tiranga Rally in Poonch, organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the world’s largest student organization. This unjust restriction is a clear infringement on the democratic rights of our nation’s youth.

The ABVP, a registered national student organization, founded in 1948 and registered in 1949 under the Societies Registration Act, the ABVP aims to promote national reconstruction, education and social welfare. ABVP has been at the forefront of promoting national integration, unity in diversity and educational development. It is imperative to recognize that the ABVP is not a political party, but rather a platform for students to engage in constructive dialogue and nation-building activities.

The organization’s primary focus is on education and student welfare, with initiatives like Students Experience in Interstate Living (SEIL), Students For Development (SFD), and Think India. The ABVP emphasizes the importance of students being responsible citizens and agents of social change.

It’s worth noting that the ABVP has been involved in various social and charitable activities, such as relief work during natural disasters, environmental programs, and blood donation drives. While the organization may have its own ideology and values, it is not affiliated with any particular political party and seeks to remain above partisan politics.

The Tiranga Rally, a symbol of national pride and unity, aimed to bring together students and teachers from various backgrounds to celebrate our nation’s diversity and strength. By denying them the opportunity to participate, the government has sent a disturbing message that it seeks to suppress the voices and aspirations of our young citizens.

I urge the government to reconsider its decision and allow the students and teachers to exercise their democratic rights. I also appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to recognize the ABVP’s contributions to the region’s educational and social development, and to support the organization’s efforts to promote national unity and progress.
