After an 8-year hiatus, the people of Jammu and Kashmir will soon have an elected Chief Minister and Legislative Assembly. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the much-awaited poll dates, with the elections set to take place in three phases.

The last elections were held in 2014, but political developments, including the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, led to the dissolution of the state’s assembly and its reorganization into two Union Territories. Now, with the Election Commission of India (ECI) announcing poll dates in three phases, the region is on the brink of restoring its democratic process.

The results will be declared on 4th October 2024, marking a significant milestone in the region’s democratic journey.
