J&K LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates cultural festival in Jammu
Jammu, Feb 15 (PTI) Over 450 artistes from across Jammu and Kashmir came together at a two-day cultural festival which commenced here on Thursday.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the festival “Guldasta-E-Jammu Wa Kashmir, Naya Daur Nayi Umeed’ at Abhinav Theatre, an official spokesperson said.
The festival is a joint endeavour of All J-K Folk Artists’ Association, J-K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi and North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala to showcase the rich musical heritage and folk art legacy of Jammu Kashmir.
“Jammu and Kashmir is the confluence of art, literature, wisdom and culture. This land is blessed with extremely talented people who have united the society and made tremendous contributions in national integration through their art,” Sinha said.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to provide the platform and necessary handholding to the young and budding artistes of the Union Territory.
“We are proud of our artistes like Padam Shri recipient folk artist Romalo Ram who are promoting the folk art and cultural heritage of Jammu Kashmir,” he said.
The LG congratulated the artistes for their enthralling performances on the occasion.
