J&K Mahila Congress celebrates 40th Foundation Day
Launches website, nationwide membership drive
JAMMU, 15 September:- The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Mahila Congress has celebrated its 40th Foundation Day in Jammu with great enthusiasm, marking four decades of empowering women and championing their rights in this part of the country on the Directions of Alka Lamba President All India Mahila Congress (AIMC).
The leaders of Mahila Congress paid tribute to the visionary leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who laid the foundation of Mahila Congress in 1984.
Divya Medrana, Co Incharge J&K Pradesh Mahila Congress, Shameema Raina-President J&K Pradesh Mahila Congress; Bhanu Mahajan-Senior Vice President J&K Pradesh Mahila Congress and Dolly Sharma-AICC Spokesperson, Tina Choudhary Observer Aimc along with Mahila Congress team celebrated 40th foundation day of Mahila Congress and launched membership drive for the organization.
Bhanu Mahajan, Senior Vice President J&K Pradesh Mahila Congress while addressing a press conference, stressed on the momentous role Mahila Congress has played in becoming a fearless voice for the women. “Since its inception, Mahila Congress has relentlessly fought for the causes of women and resolved countless issues that confront womenfolk across the country,” she said adding that Mahila Congress has become a formidable force which has supported Congress party immensely in giving fair deal to the 50 percent segment of society comprising women as it helped in making Pratibha Patil, the first woman President of India besides Indira Gandhi, who was first lady Prime Minister of the country. She also said that the seeds of women reservation were sown by none other than the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
“Whenever there is an issue affecting women, Mahila Congress reaches out to the affected, and we do not stop until we see resolution. We have tirelessly worked towards addressing women’s concerns and ensuring that their voices are heard”, she said. Reflecting on the pivotal role played by Mahila Congress during the Lok Sabha polls, she said that enthusiastic party activists had done a commendable job in supporting the Congress Party and will continue to play an instrumental role in the ongoing Assembly elections. “We are confident that Mahila Congress will once again contribute significantly towards ensuring a clean sweep for Congress in the local political contest,” she maintained.
“The event of Mahila Congress Foundation Day celebration served as a reminder of the unwavering commitment of the organization to women’s empowerment, as the leadership expressed determination to continue efforts in championing the rights of women in the region and across the country”, she added.
