J&K on verge of becoming nation’s most connected destination: PM Modi

GANDERBAL, 13 Jan: PM Narendra Modi said that J&K on the verge of becoming nation’s most connected destination with several projects amounting to Rs 42,000 crore in full swing.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated of Z-Morh Tunnel and on the heels of that addressed people in Sonamarg. PM Modi said that with robust road network, hub of tunnel, ropeway, Anji Khad bridge, Arch Bridge over Chenab, J&K will be more ultra-modern in terms of connectivity.

Heaping praises on people of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said that tranquility in environment has taken tourism to new heights. In 2024, more than 2 crore tourists visited Kashmir which unequivocally benefited the business fraternity.

PM Modi highlighted the recent developments and transformations under the BJP regime. PM Modi outrightly stated that destinations like Lal Chowk have become people-friendly now. Polo-View Market has turned into new habitat centre. Time has changed and it is democracy which is strengthened due to the people of J&K.J&K has become a people-friendly destination now as International Marathon was held wherein CM Omar Abdullah himself participated. He also laid emphasis on the cricket leagues organised in J&K and people preferring Cinemas which early was shunned in Kashmir.

Additionally, PM Modi said that it is not only in J&K but the whole country is witnessing the development spearheaded by BJP-led Government. More than 4 crore underprivileged got homes and 3 crore poor are on the verge of getting homes. Besides, 1 crore people are getting free medical treatment in India.

PM Modi said that about Sonamarg tunnel it will ease the life of not only the people of Ganderbal but also Kargil and Leh. It will mitigate the hardships of commuters.

Modi also dropped hints on restoration of Statehood by stating that will fulfil the promises at the right time.

The Sonamarg Tunnel known as Z-Morh Tunnel is around 12 Km stretch and constructed at an outlay of Rs 2700 crore. It constructs of Sonamarg main tunnel of 6.4 km in length along with egress tunnel and roads.

In the course of his address, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Government of India, MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, J&K LG Manoj Sinha, J&K CM Omar Abdullah, Deputy CM Surinder Kumar Choudhary were among the prominent personas present on the occasion.
