J&K police to host 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship from 2 to 8 March in Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir Police is gearing up to host the prestigious 23rd All India Water Sports Championship 2023-24, scheduled to be held from March 2nd to March 8th, 2024, at Dal Lake (Back Lawns) of SKICC Srinagar. Chaired by Vijay Kumar-IPS Addl. Director General of Police Armed/L&O J&K, a meeting was convened at the Police Headquarters J&K Srinagar to ensure seamless arrangements for the mega event.

With 29 teams from various central and state Police organizations and more than 500 athletes expected to participate, the championship promises a week-long extravaganza of Canoeing, Kayaking, and Rowing competitions. The meeting focused on reviewing and fine-tuning all arrangements to guarantee the event’s success.

During the discussions, Vijay Kumar emphasized the importance of maintaining safety protocols and ensuring thorough organization. Elaborate plans were put forth regarding security, traffic management, transportation, accommodation, heating, and other essential facilities for the participating teams.

Earlier Kuldeep Handoo DySP Sports APHQ apprised about all the arrangements assigned to various committees /officers for smooth and successful conduct of the event.

Attendees included notable figures such as Vidhi Kumar Birdi-IPS IGP Kashmir, M N Tiwari-IPS IGP Armed/IR Jammu, and B S Tuti-IPS IGP Hqr PHQ J&K, among others, reflecting the high-level commitment to the success of the championship.

The All India Police Water Sports Championship not only showcases the athletic prowess of police personnel but also fosters camaraderie and strengthens inter-state relationships. It is anticipated to draw attention to the natural beauty of Dal Lake and the state-of-the-art facilities at SKICC Srinagar, further enhancing the region’s reputation as a sports destination.
