J&K: Two notorious narcotics peddlers arrested in Rajouri; drugs recovered

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 15 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two notorious narcotics peddlers in Rajouri and recovered drugs, official said on Saturday.

A special naka was laid jointly by teams of police station Rajouri headed by SHO Rajouri and assisted by Incharge Police Post Chingus alongwith Incharge Anti Drugs Squad Rajouri at Kallar on Jammu Rajouri Poonch national highway, a press release said.

During this naka checking, two suspects were seen moving in suspicious condition who were intercepted and put to frisking when a Heroin like substance, eight grams each, was recovered from duo besides recovery of a huge consignment of banned drugs that include 8000 drugs tablets, that is, Tapendadole tablets that were packed in a trolley bag.

The two suspects were nabbed at the spot and have been identified as Mohd Tamour Malik son of Shakeel Ahmed resident of Thanamang Darhal and Asif Ahmed son of Maneer Hussain resident of Kheora Rajouri.

The duo have been arrested and a case in FIR under sections 8, 21, 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against both the accused.

Police stated that both the accused are well-known drug peddlers in the area and had taken a room on rent near Rajouri college to carry out their illegal acts in the Kheora area of Rajouri town.

Police further said that an investigation is in progress to track forward and backward linkages with respect to purchase and sale of narcotics.
