JKAACL and Sahitya Akademi Organize ‘Sahitya Manch’ Celebrating Dogri Poetry

Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, organized a captivating literary event titled ‘Sahitya Manch’ at the K L Saigal Hall, Jammu. The event, dedicated to Dogri poetry, brought together celebrated poets and literary enthusiasts, offering an enriching experience for the audience.

The ‘Sahitya Manch’ showcased the creative brilliance of prominent Dogri poets, including Dr. Om Goswami, Sh. Om Vidyaarthi, Sh. Mangal Das Dogra, and Sh. T R Magotra. Each poet recited their compositions, weaving a tapestry of emotions through their eloquent verses. The poetry session not only highlighted the beauty of the Dogri language but also touched upon diverse themes of culture, tradition, and contemporary life, resonating deeply with the audience.

The session was presided over by the eminent Dogri poet and Padma Shri awardee, Sh. Mohan Singh, who also delivered the welcome address. As the Convener Dogri, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, Sh. Mohan Singh emphasized the importance of nurturing regional languages through such platforms and praised the participating poets for their significant contributions to Dogri literature.

Smt. Harvinder Kour, JKAS, Secretary JKAACL, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her insightful address, she appreciated the collaborative efforts of JKAACL and Sahitya Akademi in promoting Dogri language and literature. She highlighted the pivotal role of literature in preserving cultural heritage and encouraged young poets and writers to engage with Dogri and contribute to its growth.

The event was marked by a warm and interactive atmosphere, where poetry enthusiasts and literary figures engaged in meaningful discussions. The immersive experience offered by ‘Sahitya Manch’ reinforced the cultural identity and linguistic pride associated with Dogri.

Smt. Reeta Khadyal, Editor Dogri, concluded the program with a heartfelt vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, presiding dignitary, participating poets, and the audience for their support and participation. She also extended her thanks to the organizing teams of JKAACL and Sahitya Akademi for their seamless execution of the event.
