JKAACL: Ghazal illuminates the final day of the Music Festival

Jammu, Dec 30: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), under the guidance of Shri Bharat Singh (JKAS), Secretary (JKAACL), has successfully executed the final day of the four-day Music festival at Abhinav Theatre, JKAACL premises, in Jammu. Over 75 artists from across the region performed in the four-day musical extravaganza. The final day of the festival primarily witnessed light music  — a genre consisting of rhyming couplets set to music.

Mr Khalid Hussain, former Deputy Commissioner; Mr Aslam Kureshi, former Deputy Commissioner; Prof. D.S. Manhas,  G.G.M. Science College; Khursheed Qazmi, a prolific writer of the region; and Mrs Vijay Luxmi, former Principal of Government Women College Parade, were amongst the dignified assemblage witnessing the musical event.

The event began with Ghazal performances by Neelam Langeh and Subhash Langeh, eminent singers of the region. Then onwards, Vishakha Bhardwaj, the young music sensation, mesmerized the audience with her melodic voice. Further, Jeevan Sharma, a celebrated music performer, with his scintillating performance, captured the audience’s attention. Lastly, the gathering found itself spellbound by the Ghazals by Dharmesh Nargotra, a prominent Ghazal singer of the region.

These artists were equally supported by Neeraj Verma (Tabla), Vijay Anand (Dholak), Rakesh Anand (Flute), Krishan Kumar (Synth), and Sanjay Kumar (Guitar); these instrumentalists with their skills indeed cast a spell on the audience. The in-between moments were filled by Mitali Gupta, who, while conducting the proceedings of the event, accentuated the sanctity of the occasion.

Dr Shahnawaz, Editor cum Cultural Officer (Gojri)  (JKAACL), on behalf of the Secretary (JKAACL), gave vote of thanks to the dignified assemblage for their valuable presence at the event. He further affirmed that JKAACL, under the guidance of Shri Bharat Singh (JKAS), Secretary (JKAACL), and with support from the art and culture connoisseurs of the region, shall continue to work towards its cultural endeavors aimed at the promotion of culture both in the Jammu and the Kashmir region.

The audience enthusiastically enjoyed the musical performances by the prominent artists of the region. The Cultural Academy’s effort in promoting cultural sensitivities is receiving appreciation from the artists’ fraternity.
