JKAACL Organizes ‘Meet the Eminent Artist’ Program Featuring Renowned Classical SingerSh. Vijay Kumar Sambyal.

The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages successfully organized the ‘Meet the Eminent Artist’ program at K.L. Saigal Hall, Jammu. The event featured the renowned classical singer and former Director of Radio Kashmir, Jammu, Sh. Vijay Kumar Sambyal, popularly known as ‘Rangeeley Thakur.’Held under the able guidance and supervision of Mrs. Harvinder Kour, Secretary, JKAACL, the program aimed to introduce eminent personalities to the new generation and preserve their artistic legacy. Born on January 17, 1955, in Mandi Kehli Samba, Jammu & Kashmir, ‘Rangeeley Thakur’ developed a passion for Hindustani classical music from an early age. Under the tutelage of eminent gurus, he mastered vocal music and tabla, performing across the nation and earning prestigious accolades. A
retired civil servant and scholar, he holds a Master’s degree in Hindustani Vocal Music and Sociology.

Dedicated to preserving India’s rich musical heritage, he continues to impart knowledge to students through the Guru-Shishya Parampara, inspiring generations and ensuring the continuity of Indian classical music and spiritual traditions.
The program commenced with the felicitation of Sh. Vijay Kumar Sambyal by Sh. Sanjeev Rana, Additional Secretary, JKAACL. In his welcome address, he highlighted the significant contributions of the artist to Indian classical music.
Following the felicitation, Sh. Vijay Kumar Sambyal presented a brief yet mesmerizing performance, showcasing his musical prowess. He also shared insights into his musical journey, his experiences, and the challenges he overcame in his illustrious career. He was accompanied by accomplished artists: Sh. Parshotam Kumar on Tabla, Sh. Nirmal Sufi on Harmonium, and Ms. Ridima Bajpai on Tanpura and Vocal Support. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Ashok Bhan, Former DGP J&K, Padma Shri Jitender Udhampuri, K.B. Jandyal (Retd. IAS Officer), and several other distinguished guests.
Dr.Javaid Rahi, Divisional Head, JKAACL, Jammu, presented the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the presence and contributions of all attendees.
The program was skilfully anchored by Sh. Rajkumar Behrupia, adding a dynamic touch to the proceedings
