JKAACL ‘s 2 day Jammu Kashmir Folk  Festival Inaugurated 

JAMMU, March 17: Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL), under the guidance of Shri Bharat Singh (JKAS), Secretary (JKAACL), has successfully begun with 2 day Jammu Kashmir Folk  Festival at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu.

Prof BS Sahai, Director IIM  was the Chief Guest on this auspicious occasion. He applauded the initiative of Shri Bharat Singh (JKAS), Secretary (JKAACL), for providing opportunity to experience the craft of lyrical expression of folk lore of Jammu and kashmir.   He further added that this  festival is one of the many attempts made by JKAACL to revive the old age rich culture of Jammu and Kashmir.J&K Academy of Art, Culture and languages is a premier institute of the U.T. and putting in its untiring efforts in preserving precious traditional culture by organising such Festivals.

He  congratulated  Mr. Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL for doing  such a commendable job for promotion and preservation  of Literary and Cultural Activities around whole U.T. He said that since Mr. Bharat took the charge of the Secretary, JKAACL we have seen a tremendous improvement in the field of Art and Culture in Jammu and Kashmir 

Shri Bharat Singh (JKAS), Secretary (JKAACL), while welcoming the audience, emphasised on the need for promotion and preservation of folk traditions of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the main aim of organising such festivals is to promote our own local culture and artists.

The prime highlight of the event was the musical presentations by the renowned singers / artists of the Jammu and Kashmir like  Kabul Bukhari (pahari and Gojri medley) Waqar khan, Yaseen Gundpuri , Chakri,”Saras Bharti & Party, Sonali Dogra,    Vanshika Jaral, Naina Saproo(Kashmiri Singer) Dilsher Singh & party (Punjabi Folk) Khajoor Singh & Party(Gertrude),   Parveena Bano & party(Gojri Folk), Chinmaye Sharma, Kusha Sharma, Singer, Nirbhay Singh, Raman Slathia, Pawnesh Singh and Vishal Gupta, Asha Kesar,  Bhakh, Rakesh Malhotra, Zahida Tarannum, Nisar Ahmed Dhoolwali 

They were equally supported by  Darbari lal, Dholak, Amit Anand, Tabla, Rakesh Anand, Flute, Krishan Kumar, Synth,  Sanjay Kumar, Guitar, Rohit Kumar, Octopad. The programme was ably conducted by Bindiya Raina Tikoo.

 Towards the end, the event culminated with a sincere vote of thanks by Dr Shahnawaz , Editor cum Cultural Officer, Gojri  (JKAACL).

The distinguished assemblage included prominent artists and officials from the civil administration of the region were present.

The audience enthusiastically relished the grandeur of folk traditions of Jammu and Kashmir. The Cultural Academy’s effort in promoting cultural sensitivities is receiving laud from the art and culture connoisseurs of the region.7
