Earlier Wani, Bhalla and others were accorded a grand welcome and were greeted on the beats of drums and were profusely garlanded carrying party flags in their hands. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Tanvver Ahmned Mir, Ashiq Ahemd Khanday, Adhil Ahmed Shak, Tahil Ahmed Khanda, Mohd Iqbal Malik, Mubarik Ahmed Chokan, Mohd Ishaq and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Wani said that Jammu and Kashmir lost their identity under BJP and appealed to the people to support it in the fight for the restoration of statehood. He said BJP regime has destroyed Jammu and Kashmir in various spheres, as it lost its identity, status, right over jobs, lands, opportunities of trade and transport and business besides whatsoever selections and recruitment were done in the UT, witnessed corruption and scams,” Wani said. He said that people have been exploited in the name of a bright future, control prices, and two crore jobs annually. But all their promises have fallen flat, except politics of hate and division, he said. He said that Jammu and Kashmir was a historical state with much better living conditions than most states in the country, but now it has been pushed into an atmosphere of political uncertainty.
Wani asserted that congress is the only viable alternative to the divisive policies of BJP, which has vitiated the political, social, secular, and democratic atmosphere in the country and Jammu and Kashmir. Accusing the BJP government of having failed to address the problems of the people, Wani said that since BJP took over in 2014, the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifolds. He said that all the promises made to the people prior to the Assembly elections of 2014 remained unfulfilled. More than eight years have passed but they have failed to fulfil any of the promises, be it the problems faced by the border residents, be it the problems faced by the farmers, be it the problems of Refugees and Kashmiri Pandits, this government has done nothing to address those problems,” JKPCC Chief said.
While attacking the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the centre, Wani said the prices of essential commodities have increased and it has become difficult for not only the poor but also the middle class to afford these. The ever increasing inflation is taking a toll on the common masses of this country,” he said.JKPCC Chief said the hike on essentials items have pushed the people to the wall, despite the failure of the Centre Govt to contain the price hike, Prime Minister is making false claims about the development of the Country, but the people of the country have realized that the Nation has suffered immensely on every count during nearly seven years rule of BJP Govt. He lashed out at BJP for giving lies and deceit to people rather than fulfilling the promise Narinder Modi has made to people, as a result, there is a large-scale resentment among the people in the entire Country.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that Congress has launched several protest campaigns to invite the attention of the government towards the people’s worsening plight amid wrong policies of BJP Govt.“We will take this campaign to every nook and corner of the Union Territory and force the government to provide relief to the people,” he said. In his address he claimed that it is the Congress which introduced pro-people policies and Land Reform Acts and reservation for the weaker sections of the society. The BJP leaders have no concern for the poor. Instead, it protects the interests of corporates. They will never protect the interests of the poor. They will speak about the poor only to gain votes.Former Minister said, people should come forward against anti-people policies of the BJP-led government. The BJP government is here to sell India and increase the burden of tax on public.
Taking a dig at LG Administration, Bhalla said, it is acting as the agent of the central government. He said, “The union government’s policies are putting common people into trouble. He also said that the Prime Minister is not ready to address public issues, instead, keeps speaking in ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme. He said we reside in a democratic country where every citizen has a right to protest against the anti-citizens policies of government and it is the duty of public servant to listen to everyone whoever approaches him and accept their grievances and forward the same to the concerned authority.JKPCC Working President made a call to people of J&K to work together with the Congress to defeat BJP’s wrong polices and vested agenda in forthcoming assembly polls adding that Congress needs their support to get the job done. Bhalla added that political parties were gravely mistaken if they felt they could topple the BJP without the Congress playing a leading role. Such policies would need to change, he said. He said Congress is the only national party in India having roots all over the country.
Bhalla said Congress government was the only solution for the grievances of people of J&K. He said BJP Government has failed to address political and developmental aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said common people have been left to fend for themselves by a brazenly insensitive and callous dispensation .He said lack of direction and political will have compounded the perception of political uncertainty in J&K whereas the Government should have tried to provide a hope of inclusive development, reconciliation and peace.
The former Minister said BJP Government rather than addressing public issues, had chosen to tread a path of isolation, arrogance and confrontation contradicting the promises made to people of J&K.BJP Govt has not only created an atmosphere of disillusionment with the democratic institutions but also destroyed the hard-earned dividends of peace in J&K. He said disenchantment among the people has reached an unprecedented level.
