JMM MLA Ramdas Soren takes oath as minister in Jharkhand govt

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], August 30 (ANI): JMM MLA Ramdas Soren took oath as a state cabinet minister in a function held at Raj Bhawan here on Friday. He replaced Champai Soren in the cabinet, who quit the JMM on August 28.

Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ramdas Soren. The function was attended by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, senior leaders of the JMM-led alliance, and several government officials.

Meanwhile, Champai Soren is set to join the BJP this afternoon. On Thursday He said that he is joining the BJP to protect the interests of Tribals.

Speaking to ANI ahead of his formal joining on Friday, the former JMM stalwart said, “I am going to join that party (BJP) after a lot of deliberations. From there, I will protect the existence of tribals. Their population is declining, I will raise my voice regarding that. I will join the BJP tomorrow. After that, I will shoulder all the responsibilities that will be given to me.”

He also emphasized that he is joining the BJP with the intent to develop the state and to save the very existence of tribals who are in danger due to Bangladeshi infiltration.

Champai Soren became the chief minister of Jharkhand on February 2 after Hemant Soren resigned as the CM before being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.

On Wednesday, he resigned from all posts and primary membership of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

“Today I resigned from the primary membership and all posts of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Our struggle will continue on the issues of tribals, natives, Dalits, backward people and common people of Jharkhand,” Soren said in a post on X as he shared his resignation letter.
