JNU VC Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit conferred honorary Colonel Rank by JNU’s NCC Unit
New Delhi [India], July 30 (ANI): Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, was conferred with the honorary Colonel Rank by JNU’s NCC Unit in a felicitation ceremony hosted by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit of JNU on Tuesday.
The Unit conferred the prestigious rank of Honorary Colonel of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) to the distinguished professor in a resounding program at the University’s administrative block on 30th July, Tuesday.
The above ceremony celebrated the significant contributions of Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit to the national building. While accepting the honour, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor said, “I was a NCC cadet but never thought that I would become a Colonel one day.” She further said that the faculty should encourage students to join NCC as it instils a sense of national pride and national character. She also thanked her NCC training for her success today.
Meanwhile, ADG Major General P Vishwasrao, Sena Medal Bar, hailed the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor as a soldier without a uniform. He said the army protects the borders, but teachers shape the future inside the country.
The event also showcased a video film featuring all the NCC activities in JNU over the years. JNU Rectors Prof. Brajesh Kumar Panday, Prof Satish Chandra Garkoti, and Prof. Deependra Nath Das were also present at the occasion.
