K.C. College of Education Celebrated world Environment Day

JAMMU, 05 June: The Environmental Club, in collaboration with the NSS unit of K.C. College of Educationobserved World Environment Day by organizing an awareness campaign today. Based on this year’s theme ‘BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION’, an activity was initiated where the club members and NSS volunteers made paper and cloth bags using old newspapers and clothes respectively. During this activity, they also prepared placards with slogans against plastic pollution written on them. After this activity, a rally was carried out in the Udheywala area.

On their way, the students of the college interacted with the inhabitants of the area explaining
to them the severe environmental and health consequences of single – use plastic products
especially polythene. They also refocused the attention on solutions to plastic pollution.

During the campaign, the members of the club distributed paper and cloth bags prepared by
them to the locals especially to the shopkeepers of the area. Speaking on the occasion,
Principal of the college, Dr. Sanjay Tickoo appreciated the club members for their efforts and
also highlighted the ways to reduce environmental and health consequences of using plastic.

Convenor of the club, Dr. Puja Sharma convened the whole event and added that the club will
continue to observe such days which serve as a reminder that people’s actions towards
environmental protection are important.
