Kaala Pani fame Vikas Kumar starrer slow burn suspense drama Uljhan set to release on Open Theatre, trailer out!

Vikas Kumar and Saloni Batra starrer Uljhan/The Knot shows how class differentiation plays out in every section of society

The trailer for Ashish Pant’s feature directorial debut, Uljhan/The Knot, is set to be released on the Open Theatre platform on September 6. This suspenseful drama, starring Vikas Kumar, Saloni Batra, and Nehpal Gautam, is produced by Kartikeya Narayan Singh, known for the critically acclaimed Soni.

Uljhan is a slow-burn suspense drama set in Lucknow, focusing on an upper-middle-class couple, Shirish and Geeta, whose lives begin to unravel after a tragic accident involving a rickshaw.

Vikas Kumar, who plays one of the lead roles, stated, “The film is essentially a drama with subtle yet powerful elements. What makes it stand out is its focus on four main characters and how class differentiation plays out in every section of society. Their different reactions to this event and how it impacts the dynamics of their relationship form the crux of the film. This exploration of class and character, combined with the subtle nuances in the narrative, makes the film an engaging watch.”

It does not shout at you to pay attention to what it wants you to see, simply traverses gently through like a river on whose bank many stand in time looking at it from a static observational point, but the river has never been static just like time passing us by. Just standing by its side has a mirroring effect which sometimes makes us reflect on our own lives and times.”
